Brian S. J. Blagg, Ph.D. is a co-founder of Grannus and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Blagg is the Charles Huisking Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of the Warren Family Research Center for Drug Discovery and Development at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of HSP90 inhibitors and other small molecules for the treatment of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Blagg began his independent research career at the University of Kansas, where he served as a professor of medicinal chemistry until 2017. That year, he joined the University of Notre Dame to lead its premier drug discovery initiative. He earned a B.A. in Chemistry and Environmental Studies from Sonoma State University, followed by a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Utah under the mentorship of Dr. Dale Poulter. He then completed a prestigious NIH postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Dale Boger at The Scripps Research Institute. Dr. Blagg is widely recognized for his contributions to medicinal chemistry and continues to lead innovative research at the intersection of chemistry and therapeutic development.
